Aitana Bonmatí and Ousmane Dembélé Win Prestigious Titles at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025
Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí made history by winning her third consecutive The Best FIFA Women’s Player award, while France’s Ousmane Dembélé took home the title of The Best FIFA Men’s Player at a special ceremony in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday.

The Barcelona midfielder earned The Best FIFA Women’s Player accolade after another remarkable year for both her club and national team, becoming the first female footballer to achieve three consecutive wins.

“I’m incredibly thankful and proud to accept my third FIFA The Best award. My gratitude extends to everyone who voted for me – players, coaches, and fans,” she expressed in a video message. “For me, the highlight is knowing that players I admire and coaches I compete against voted for me as the best player. That’s the most meaningful recognition.”
Ousmane Dembélé had a stellar season as Paris-Saint Germain celebrated significant victories, capturing the Coupe de France, their 13th Ligue 1 title, and a groundbreaking first UEFA Champions League title, ultimately finishing as runners-up at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

“Firstly, I want to thank all my teammates; hard work truly pays off. It’s been an incredible year for me both individually and as part of a team,” said the 28-year-old after receiving his award from FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the FIFA Celebration 2025 Dinner in Doha, Qatar, just before the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2025 final, where his Paris Saint-Germain squad will face CR Flamengo.

“I’d also like to acknowledge my family, who have consistently supported me; Paris Saint-Germain F.C., with whom I’ve had this amazing year; the President, his staff, and everyone at the club; and Luís Campos. Lastly, I want to express my appreciation to you, Mr. President. Your birthday messages always bring me joy. I hope to return here next year.”

Similar to other major individual awards, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, and The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper awards were decided based on an equally weighted vote from fans, current captains and coaches of all men’s and women’s national teams, as well as media representatives.

Sarina Wiegman was announced as The Best FIFA Women’s Coach for 2025 after guiding England to a second consecutive UEFA Women’s EURO title.

The coach of the Lionesses remarked: “It’s truly special. I feel privileged, and it reflects the journey I’ve had with incredible teams. I look forward to what lies ahead.”

When asked about the primary emotion the award evokes, Sarina Wiegman added: “Honour. It speaks volumes about the team, and without teamwork, you achieve nothing. The beauty of team sports lies in harnessing talent together, aligning everyone’s efforts, and reaching great heights. It brings me joy to witness players and staff performing at their best and achieving wins.”

Meanwhile, in recognition of his pivotal role in leading Paris Saint-Germain to glory, Luis Enrique was honored as The Best FIFA Men’s Coach for 2025.

The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award went to Hannah Hampton, who excelled in goal for Chelsea as they secured a domestic treble. She subsequently starred for England, with key saves throughout their journey to continental success, including two penalty shootout victories, one of which was in the final against Spain.

After receiving her award, she stated: “Thank you so much to everyone who voted. It means a great deal to me. A special thanks to Sarina (Wiegman) and Sonia (Bompastor) for having faith in me this year. Together, we’ve accomplished so much, and there’s still plenty more ahead of us.”

She further expressed: “To the fans, both club and country, your unwavering support is noticed. We hear you cheering passionately in every game, and that motivates us to deliver victories for you. Thank you!”

Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who joined Manchester City earlier this year, was named The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper 2025 for his standout performances with former club Paris Saint-Germain, delivering crucial saves during their trophy-laden season.

“Thank you all. It’s a real privilege to receive this award. I’m beyond happy. I aim to keep this momentum and strive for even greater achievements. Thank you again, everyone. It’s a wonderful honor.”

The finest goals in both women’s and men’s football were highlighted with The FIFA Marta Award, presented for only the second time, and The FIFA Puskás Award, respectively. These honors were decided through a vote that balanced fans’ choices with a panel of FIFA Legends.

Two remarkable goals were acknowledged, with Lizbeth Ovalle winning The FIFA Marta Award for her spectacular goal for Tigres in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil, while Independiente defender Santiago Montiel received this year’s FIFA Puskás Award for his impressive overhead kick in Argentina’s Primera División.

The FIFA Fan Award recipients, based exclusively on votes from registered FIFA.com users and achieving a record-breaking 2.7 million votes – are the fans of Zakho SC, a club from Iraq. Zakho fans created a touching moment before their league match against Al-Hudood SC in May 2025 by tossing thousands of stuffed animals onto the pitch for local children battling illness.

Dr. Andreas Harlass-Neuking was awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award decided by an expert panel. The team doctor for SSV Jahn Regensburg in Germany rushed into the stands to revive a fan and save their life before a 2. Bundesliga match against 1. FC Magdeburg.

Fans also participated in the voting for The Best FIFA Men’s 11 and The Best FIFA Women’s 11, selecting from a pool of 77 nominees for each lineup, with their votes weighted equally alongside an expert panel.
