The nomination period for the leading organizational position will start on January 19, and the new party leader is anticipated to be revealed the following day, according to a party circular cited by the news agency PTI.

The election schedule was released by BJP national returning officer K. Laxman.
According to the timetable, nominations can be submitted between 2 pm and 4 pm on January 19. The verification of nomination papers will occur from 4 pm to 5 pm the same day, while candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations from 5 pm to 6 pm.

“Polling will occur if necessary on January 20, and the announcement of the new BJP national president will take place the same day,” Laxman stated, as reported by PTI.

If elected, Nabin will succeed JP Nadda, who has held the role since January 2020. Interestingly, Nadda followed a similar path, having first been appointed as the BJP’s national working president in June 2019 before being elected unopposed as the party chief, as noted by PTI.

Political background and experience

Nitin Nabin, 45, comes from Bihar and represents the Bankipur assembly constituency. He has held ministerial positions twice in the Bihar government.

The son of late BJP veteran and former MLA Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, he is seen within the organization as a leader grounded in strong ideology.

Nabin has a long-standing relationship with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and is perceived as dedicated to organizational responsibilities. His anticipated elevation is expected to signify a generational change in the party’s leadership structure, according to PTI.
