Samsung has officially unveiled the Exynos 2500, its latest mobile chipset, following months of speculation. This marks the company’s first chip manufactured with an advanced 3nm process, a significant upgrade aimed at enhancing the speed, intelligence, and efficiency of smartphones.

Although it has arrived slightly later than anticipated, the Exynos 2500 is expected to power Samsung’s next foldable devices, set to launch on July 9.

Samsung emphasizes that the Exynos 2500 is designed to support advanced AI functionalities directly on the device, eliminating the need for cloud connectivity. This enables users to perform tasks such as editing photos with generative AI, removing unwanted objects, enlarging backgrounds, or enhancing video quality — all while safeguarding personal data.
The company asserts that the AI engine in this chip is 39% faster than that of the previous Exynos 2400, making it adept at managing intricate tasks like voice recognition, translation, and content creation.

Internally, the Exynos 2500 features a robust 10-core processor alongside a new graphics chip developed in collaboration with AMD, known for its high-performance gaming technology. This combination aims to elevate gaming visuals and fluidity on smartphones, including support for console-like graphics such as ray tracing.

Despite its enhanced capabilities, Samsung claims the chip is more energy-efficient. Thanks to innovative packaging and design improvements, it also maintains a cooler temperature, reducing the likelihood of overheating during intensive usage.

The Exynos 2500 can support cameras up to 320 megapixels and facilitate 8K video recording, utilizing AI to automatically enhance both images and videos. Samsung indicates that its new image processor enhances the sharpness and vibrancy of your captures.

Additionally, the chip is compatible with the latest wireless technologies, including 5G with increased download speeds, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and even satellite communication for areas lacking conventional cellular service. This ensures your phone remains connected in more locations, with improved speed and stability.

While Samsung has not yet disclosed which devices will incorporate the Exynos 2500, speculation points to the anticipated Galaxy Z Flip7, expected to launch on July 9. If accurate, this could mark a significant moment, as a Samsung foldable would feature an Exynos chip globally for the first time in a while.
