Jay Shah urges the cricket community to commemorate Olympic Day: What makes this annual event important?
The president of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah, has urged the cricketing community to commemorate Olympic Day 2025, especially with cricket’s upcoming inclusion in the Los Angeles Games in 2028.

“Cricket has always brought us together, and now, it joins the Olympic movement! On this #OlympicDay, let’s recognize the role of sport in inspiring, connecting, and uplifting. Bring your +1 for a walk, a run, or a cricket match, and take a step towards a healthier, stronger India.

Together, let’s continue pressing forward on our journey to bring the Olympic Games home!” Shah wrote on his official X account on Monday.
The International Olympic Day, celebrating the inception of the modern version of the quadrennial event, is observed each year on June 23.

Athletes and figures associated with the sport worldwide engage in activities to promote the Olympic spirit. This occasion aims to raise awareness about the importance of sports, inspiring individuals and encouraging them to incorporate physical activities into their daily lives.
