Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Proposes Renaming Renigunta Airport in Honor of Lord Venkateswara
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has announced a proposal to rename Renigunta Airport to Sri Venkateswara International Airport, as stated by the temple body’s chairman, BR Naidu. During a recent press conference, Naidu confirmed that a formal recommendation has been submitted to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He added that the airport’s design will be reimagined to evoke a spiritual and devotional atmosphere.

“A proposal has been made to rename Renigunta airport in honor of Lord Sri Venkateswara. The airport will embody the divine aesthetics of Tirumala,” Naidu remarked.

In addition to the renaming, TTD has announced plans to establish a Srivari temple in Bengaluru, subject to land allocation from the Karnataka government.
At the press conference, Naidu revealed that Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Kumara Swamy, has consented to provide 100 electric buses to TTD. These buses are anticipated to arrive in Tirumala soon, aiming to improve sustainable transportation for visitors in the pilgrimage area.

TTD is focusing on enhancing quality control for temple offerings. It has decided to lease space in Tirupati to set up a Council of Scientific and Industrial Research laboratory to assess the quality of ghee, water, and food items presented at the shrine.

On the educational front, Naidu mentioned plans to modernize the 73-year-old Sri Venkateswara College in Delhi. A three-member committee, led by the TTD chairman, will address the issues concerning 200 contract lecturers before moving forward with new staff recruitment.

In its broader religious and social outreach efforts, TTD’s Dharmic (religious) wing is set to launch various programs. These encompass priesthood training for individuals from socially disadvantaged groups, Sadgamaya, aimed at instilling ethical values among students, and Saubhagyam, a women-centric initiative associated with the observance of Varalakshmi Vratam.

Naidu also discussed other initiatives, including Akshara Govindam for children, Harikatha Vaibhavam, Sanmargam for prison inmates, Giri Janardhanam in tribal areas, and Vana-Nidhi, a project merging ecological awareness with spiritual teachings.
