JetBlue plane from Chicago veers off runway and onto grass in Boston
A JetBlue flight arriving at Boston’s Logan International Airport skidded off the runway and onto the grass on Thursday (June 12), according to an airport spokesperson.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the passengers on JetBlue flight 312. However, the runway remained closed in the afternoon, leading to a ground stop for all flights. Crews worked to assess the situation, and passengers were transported to the terminal via bus, as reported by Samantha Decker from the Massachusetts Port Authority.

Eyewitness accounts from an Associated Press reporter at the scene described passengers exiting the aircraft using stairs set up by emergency services, surrounded by numerous emergency personnel. The Airbus 220 was traveling from Chicago.

“JetBlue flight 312 from Chicago to Boston went off the runway and onto the grass upon landing,” JetBlue stated in an email. “We will carry out a thorough investigation into the incident and collaborate with the relevant authorities to determine the cause.”

The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the matter, according to a spokesperson via email. No additional information about what may have led to the plane leaving the runway has been shared.

This incident coincides with statements from FAA officials acknowledging that they are not doing enough to guarantee air safety. A recent survey conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research indicates that fewer Americans feel safe about flying this year.
