Former India Coach Abhishek Nayar's Strategic Insight Leads MSC Maratha Royals to T20 Mumbai League Semifinals
Against all odds and with an impressive line-up, MSC Maratha Royals have charged into the T20 Mumbai League semi-finals in their inaugural season. Without any iconic players in their squad and little pre-season buzz, the Royals have allowed their performance to speak volumes. They are set to face the top-ranked Eagle Thane Strikers in a crucial semi-final match today at the Wankhede.

Central to the Royals’ success is Chinmay Sutar, who has scored 199 runs, featuring the tournament’s highest individual score of 79. Right behind him is team captain Siddhesh Lad, with 153 runs under his belt, showcasing leadership that has matched his batting with back-to-back fifties during critical phases. Sutar currently ranks second in the league’s run charts, boasting two half-centuries and emerging as a strong contender for the Orange Cap as the Royals prepare for their semi-final contest.

The remarkable teamwork and confidence of the Royals can be attributed to mentor Abhishek Nayar, whose strategic insight, structured planning, and unyielding motivation have transformed a talented group into legitimate playoff contenders.
Nayar remarked, “The boys believed in the process, committed to playing bold cricket, and gave their all. Reaching the semi-final isn’t merely luck; it’s the result of hard work, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Maxwell Swaminathan spearheaded the bowling attack, taking seven wickets and placing among the top three bowlers out of the four semi-finalists. Debutant Rohan Ghag made a strong impression, while ‘Russell’ Rohan Raje provided crucial late-innings power. Young opener Sahil Jadhav exhibited bravery at the top, completing a squad where every player rose to the occasion when needed.
