It was a jam-packed Thursday of high school sports across the Wayne-Finger Lakes region, headlined by thrilling lacrosse battles and dominant performances on the baseball and softball diamonds.
In boys lacrosse, Palmyra-Macedon stayed unbeaten with a tight win over Geneva, while Penn Yan and Canandaigua each picked up statement victories. On the baseball field, Alan Plummer struck out 13 in a one-hit shutout for Mynderse, and Gananda celebrated Coach Bill McClare’s 150th career win. Meanwhile, in softball, Kyli Simonds and Piper Simpson led explosive offensive showings for North Rose-Wolcott and Dundee/Bradford, respectively, and Haley Young impressed in the circle and at the plate for Mynderse.

Alexander Rogers was lights out on the mound for the Tigers, tossing a complete game shutout with 12 strikeouts, allowing just four hits and one walk. He also contributed at the plate with a hit, while Jayden Mansell and Chase Osterhout each went 2-for-3. Kellen Mahoney drove in the game’s lone run with a sacrifice fly and added a hit of his own. For the Screaming Eagles, Braxton Wilkes impressed in a tough-luck loss, striking out seven over six innings and going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Alan Plummer was dominant on the mound for the Blue Devils, tossing a complete-game one-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a fast-paced, 1-hour-and-5-minute contest. The lone run of the game came in the first inning when Byron Catalano singled and scored. Caleb Mahoney added a single and a double to pace the offense. Aidan Twist also threw a complete game for the Eagles, striking out four and allowing just three hits.

Piper Simpson went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the BraveScots in a dominant offensive showing, adding two RBI in a game where the team racked up 20 hits. Riley Briscoe also had four hits and drove in multiple runs, while Reese Simpson and Hannah Herrick each recorded three RBI. Morgan Sutryk pitched five strong innings, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out seven. Dundee/Bradford was aggressive on the bases as well, collecting seven stolen bases and drawing six walks.

Kyah Lajewski added a triple and Makayla Williams doubled, scored twice, and drove in a run to help power the offense.
