Paytm Payment Gateway Collaborates with Anthropic’s Claude: Leveraging AI Prompts for Business Opportunities
Paytm Payment Gateway has partnered with Anthropic’s Claude through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling merchants to utilize AI prompts to obtain information on transactions, refunds, settlements, and other payment-related activities.

This integration, revealed by Paytm Payments Services Limited (PPSL), facilitates authorized merchants in linking their Paytm Payment Gateway accounts with Claude. Businesses can leverage prompts to retrieve transaction details, verify refund statuses, review settlements, and access reconciliation data, among other information.

MCP is a standard that permits AI applications to interface with external tools and services. In Paytm’s scenario, it allows Claude to engage with the payment gateway’s APIs, contingent upon merchant authentication and permissions.

This initiative could lessen the necessity for businesses to alternate between payment dashboards, reports, and separate API calls for frequent information inquiries. For example, finance and operations teams might use conversational prompts to ascertain collections or settlement status, while developers could integrate payment data into AI-driven workflows.

Paytm stated that the integration permits access strictly through authorized permissions. The processes for payment execution, refunds, and settlements are still managed through the existing infrastructure of the payment gateway and merchant-controlled procedures.

The partnership emerges as payment companies and businesses investigate methods to fuse generative AI with operational systems. Accessing transaction and settlement data via AI interfaces could simplify routine inquiries, but it also heightens the importance of authentication and access controls when dealing with financial information.

Paytm Payments Services is a fully owned subsidiary of One97 Communications, the parent organization of Paytm.
