Nvidia plans to invest as much as $3 billion in Lancium, a developer focused on power infrastructure and the company behind the Stargate data centre campus located in Texas, as reported by the Information on Friday.

The semiconductor manufacturer is set to invest an initial $2 billion for approximately a 20% stake in Lancium, which is supported by Blackstone, according to the report.

Furthermore, Nvidia may add another $1 billion contingent on the company achieving specific metrics, such as grid connections, the report noted, citing sources familiar with the situation.

Under the terms of the agreement, Lancium and its array of land and power assets are valued at about $10 billion, according to the information.

This investment is anticipated to assist Lancium in scaling its operations as it considers a potential initial public offering in 2027, the report indicated.

Neither Nvidia nor Lancium promptly responded to Reuters’ inquiries for comment.
