The advisory, shared through the Embassy’s official account on X, indicated that the revision is a response to a recent surge in instability and conflict within Iran.

- For those planning travel: Indian nationals looking to travel to Iran for any reason are urged to delay their plans until the security situation improves.
- For those currently in Iran: Indian nationals already in Iran are advised to consider leaving the country temporarily using available flights.
- For those choosing to stay: Citizens opting to remain should exercise extreme caution and stay updated with news to ensure full situational awareness. They are advised to avoid areas with active military presence, especially along Iran’s southern coast, and to fully comply with instructions from local authorities.
- Registration: Indian nationals in Iran who have yet to register with the Embassy are requested to do so immediately, and to keep checking the Embassy’s website and social media for further updates.
The advisory follows increasing tensions between Iran and the United States throughout West Asia, with the US regularly attacking Iranian infrastructure, including bridges, desalination plants, and military sites.
In response, Iran has targeted US bases across the region, with Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates experiencing the majority of these incidents.
Additionally, India’s maritime authority has previously advised against sending Indian seafarers on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Nations estimated last month that at least 14 seafarers had been killed in attacks near the strait, without specifying nationalities. Of the incidents where nationalities have been confirmed, Indian crew members accounted for the highest number of fatalities, with 9 out of the total 14.
