Beginning the race from second position, Maini swiftly made his intentions clear. The BWT Alpine F1 Team reserve driver executed a perfectly timed maneuver on the pole-sitter before reaching turn 1, taking the lead even before the first corner was cleared and maintaining it throughout the race.
Maini displayed exceptional tyre management, skillfully controlling the race pace and steadily increasing his lead over his competitors. He ultimately crossed the finish line with a 7.2-second margin, the second-largest victory of the season.
He also achieved the fastest lap of the race, securing the maximum available points on Saturday.
Starting the Feature race on Sunday from P9, he opted for an alternate strategy, demonstrating strong tyre management again and finishing in P9, contributing essential points to the Championship standings.
Currently in his fourth F2 season, Maini holds the ninth position in the Drivers Standings.
“Winning in Barcelona is an incredible feeling. I extend my heartfelt thanks to my team at ART GP. Their dedication in ensuring I have a competitive car has played a significant role in my performance this season,” Maini remarked after his sprint victory.
“It’s always surreal to hear our national anthem in a foreign land, and I’m confident there will be many more such moments ahead. These points are crucial, bringing us closer to achieving our aspirations.”
