Meta appoints Alex Schultz as its inaugural chief data officer.
Meta announced on Wednesday that Alex Schultz, the company’s chief marketing officer, will take on the role of its first chief data officer to enhance global management of AI analytics.

The parent company of Facebook has also elevated Denise Moreno, its vice president of consumer marketing and growth, to the position of marketing chief.

• “In this new role, I aim to transform how Meta learns and makes decisions in the AI-driven landscape,” Schultz stated in a LinkedIn update.
• These leadership shifts indicate Meta’s commitment to strengthening data-centric decision-making and integrating AI throughout its operations.

• Having joined the company in 2007, Schultz has overseen multiple areas, including developing Meta’s brand strategy and managing WhatsApp privacy campaigns, as noted on his LinkedIn profile.

• Following a report from Bloomberg News earlier on Wednesday about Meta’s initiative to build a cloud business for surplus AI computing capacity, shares of the company rose by 10%.

• Moreno, who has been with Meta for 17 years, started her career focusing on email marketing and growth experiments, as mentioned in a separate post.
