The ceasefire was facilitated through the efforts of the United States, Qatar, and Iran, the official disclosed, noting that negotiations were aided by intermediaries from both Qatar and Iran. “Hezbollah and Israel have reached a ceasefire agreement,” the official remarked, indicating that this arrangement followed renewed instances of conflict earlier in the day.
This agreement emerges after several days of heightened violence along the Israel–Lebanon border, which included Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon resulting in at least 18 fatalities, per Lebanon’s health ministry, along with separate incidents that claimed the lives of four Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, marking one of Hezbollah’s most lethal assaults in the ongoing hostilities.

A Hezbollah legislator informed Reuters that Iran had conveyed to the group that broader negotiations with Washington could not advance without establishing a comprehensive ceasefire. The escalation has also put pressure on a wider US-Iran agreement aimed at reducing regional tensions.
Violence had briefly subsided earlier in the week before escalating again, highlighting the precarious nature of diplomatic efforts aimed at controlling the conflict.
