Amazon to Expand Quick-Commerce Offerings by Fourfold with 100+ New Fulfillment Centers
Amazon is expanding its quick-commerce operations in India. The company announced on Wednesday the introduction of over 100 Urban Fulfillment Centers, set to increase the product variety available on its quick-commerce platform, Amazon Now, by four times.

As per the company, the new centers will feature categories that were not previously available for quick delivery — including apparel, electronics, jewellery, shoes, luggage, watches, wireless products, musical instruments, and furniture.

Deliveries will be made in minutes, in addition to existing categories like groceries, personal care, beauty products, small appliances, baby essentials, pet supplies, and healthcare supplements, the company noted.
The rollout will kick off in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, strategically scheduled ahead of Prime Day 2026.

The Urban Fulfillment Centers are larger facilities that enhance Amazon Now’s existing network of over 1,000 Micro-Fulfillment Centers, which are already operational in 100 cities. These new centers aim to broaden the product range while maintaining rapid delivery speeds.

“As we continue to scale Amazon Now, our focus remains on delivering customers a broader selection, significant value, and quicker delivery across categories,” said Abhinav Singh, Vice President – Operations, Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye.

“The launch of Urban Fulfillment Centers allows us to position inventory closer to customers, facilitating faster deliveries across a wide array of offerings from our sellers.”

Part of a larger investment

This expansion is backed by Amazon’s previously announced investment exceeding ₹2,800 crore (around $300 million) in India, aimed at enhancing its operations network and improving the safety, health, and financial wellbeing of its associates.

As part of the same investment strategy, Amazon has been developing Ashray centers — specialized rest areas for delivery associates in high-traffic locations, accessible to associates from any company.

Each center features air-conditioned seating, drinking water, washrooms, charging stations, and first-aid kits. Amazon plans to expand the Ashray network from 100 to 250 centers by the end of 2026.
