Abhishek Banerjee calls Kalyan Banerjee his mentor, seeks to defuse TMC infighting
Responding to criticism from senior TMC member Kalyan Banerjee amid the party’s unrest, national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee took a diplomatic approach on Friday, referring to the Serampore MP as a political mentor who “raised him” and thus had the right to voice his concerns.

This gesture of conciliation came shortly after Kalyan Banerjee publicly challenged Abhishek’s leadership approach, accused him of being arrogant, and issued a warning to party leader Mamata Banerjee to choose between her nephew and experienced members like himself.

“Kalyan Banerjee has witnessed my growth. He is an esteemed leader of our party, and he is entitled to express his constructive criticism. There’s no need for unnecessary disputes over this,” Abhishek stated to reporters outside Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence post a meeting with the party’s top officials.
These comments stood in stark contrast to the escalating confrontations that have troubled the ruling party since its significant loss in the recent assembly elections and seemed designed to avert the issue from escalating into a severe organizational crisis.
