In an unprecedented event, the FIFA World Cup will host three opening ceremonies co-presented by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, featuring an array of renowned stars. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19.

The inaugural ceremony will be held at Banorte Stadium in Mexico City on June 11 at 11:00 pm IST. In addition to headliners Shakira and Burna Boy, the event will feature other prominent artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Mana, and Tyla. FIFA has stated that Mexican culture will be prominently showcased through music, dance, and artistic performances that combine indigenous talent with contemporary folkloric artists.

The second ceremony is set to occur at Toronto Stadium on June 12 at 11:00 pm IST. Artists scheduled to perform include Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Alyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Buble, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and William Prince. FIFA describes this Canadian ceremony as a “mosaic,” representing the diverse peoples, cultures, and communities that make up the nation.

The third ceremony will take place at the Los Angeles Stadium on June 13 at 5:00 am IST. This event will feature a strong lineup including Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla. Gianni Infantino, FIFA’s president, emphasizes that the array of artists mirrors the cultural diversity of the United States and the richness of its various diasporas, showcasing the nation’s significant impact on music, entertainment, and pop culture, while illustrating music’s ability to unite people across the country.

Shakira is set to perform on July 19 during the halftime show of the FIFA World Cup final at The New York New Jersey Stadium, joined by Madonna and BTS.
