Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy steps down from Cabinet after losing Bengaluru development role.

On Friday (June 5), Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced his resignation from the state Cabinet, stating he could not continue after being denied the Bengaluru development portfolio, which he asserted had been promised to him.

In Bengaluru, Reddy mentioned that while he was stepping down as minister, he would remain an MLA and continue with the Congress party.

“I cannot act against my conscience, so I am resigning as minister,” Reddy stated.

His resignation follows the announcement made the previous day by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar regarding the allocation of portfolios in the newly expanded Cabinet.

Reddy expressed his disappointment over the Thursday announcement, highlighting that he had been assured the Bengaluru development portfolio.

According to the distribution of portfolios, Krishna Byre Gowda was assigned the Bengaluru Urban Development department under the Greater Bengaluru Authority, while Reddy received the Water Resources portfolio.

Reddy, who represents the BTM Layout constituency in Bengaluru, confirmed that he would remain with the Congress and continue serving as a legislator.
