Karnataka Cabinet: DK Shivakumar to Take Oath as Chief Minister with 13 Ministers, Including Siddaramaiah’s Son
Shivakumar, the Chief Minister-designate of Karnataka, announced that he will be sworn in along with 13 ministers today at 4:05 pm. The oath of office and secrecy will be administered by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru.

A letter dated June 3 lists 14 leaders who are set to take their oaths during this initial phase of cabinet formation.

As Shivakumar takes the oath as CM, senior Congress leader G Parameshwara is expected to be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. While there were earlier rumors of multiple Deputy CMs, Parameshwara is anticipated to hold the position alone.
The lineup also features Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of the outgoing CM.

Previously, Yathindra mentioned, “I am an aspirant. The party high command has assured me a ministerial position in the Karnataka cabinet. I remain hopeful. I am uncertain about a KPCC role, as I am still unaware of the high command’s decision regarding that.”

Siddaramaiah will step back, allowing Shivakumar to take on the role of new CM as part of a power-sharing arrangement within Congress, wherein they reportedly agreed to alternate the position for 2.5 years each.

The ministers being inducted in this first phase include KH Muniyappa, KJ George, MB Patil, Ramalinga Reddy, Satish Jarkiholi, Krishna Byregowda, Priyank Kharge, UT Khader, Eshwar Khandre, Byrathi Suresh, and Sharan Prakash Patil.

HK Patil is expected to be appointed Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly.

The swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to draw the presence of leading political figures, including Rahul Gandhi, as well as officials and party supporters. The induction of ministers signifies the establishment of the new state cabinet under the leadership of Shivakumar.

The entire route from Vidhana Soudha to Lok Bhavan is decorated with Congress flags and posters to welcome leaders, party workers, and supporters attending the event.

Large banners featuring prominent figures such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, DK Shivakumar, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and Siddaramaiah have been placed around the area.

LED screens have been positioned at several spots for those unable to enter the main venue, allowing them to watch the swearing-in ceremony live. Barricades have been erected on roads heading to Lok Bhavan.

Traffic restrictions are also in effect, prohibiting regular vehicles on several major roads near the venue, including Cubbon Road, Dr BR Ambedkar Road from KR Circle, Race Course Road, and the access roads to Lok Bhavan from Queens Junction and St Mark’s Road.
