US-Iran War Live Updates: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran has “consistently upheld its commitments” and pursued all options to avoid conflict, insisting that “all avenues remain open” on Iran’s part, as US President Donald Trump expressed he could wait a few more days for the “correct answer”.

In a post on X, Pezeshkian remarked that trying to force Iran to comply through coercion was “merely an illusion,” advocating that “mutual respect in diplomacy is infinitely wiser, safer, and more sustainable than warfare.”

Trump indicated that the US is ready to execute further strikes on Tehran if a peace agreement isn’t reached, although he suggested Washington could postpone any actions “for a few days” to receive “the appropriate answers.”

In the meantime, Iran has implemented a layered inspection system for vessels navigating through the Strait of Hormuz, an essential chokepoint for worldwide oil commerce.

On Wednesday, May 20, three supertankers carrying approximately 6 million barrels of crude were reported crossing the strait heading towards Asian markets, according to Reuters.
