Political Controversy Erupts in Hyderabad Over POCSO Case Involving Union Minister Bandi Sanjay's Son
A political uproar has emerged following a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case filed against Bhagirath Sai, the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar in Hyderabad. The police initiated the case after allegations of sexual abuse were made by a minor girl’s family. This development has triggered significant protests led by the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Sai has rejected the allegations and submitted a counter-complaint in Karimnagar, claiming that the girl’s family is engaging in blackmail and extortion.

BRS has escalated its criticism of the minister, accusing him of attempting to shield his son. They have also suggested collusion between the BJP and Congress administrations.
On Sunday, Bandi Sanjay addressed BJP workers and supporters in Hyderabad, forcefully denying the allegations and asserting that his opponents are targeting him because they cannot confront him politically.

“I will never act in a manner that undermines the party’s dignity. Those incompetent fools, those cowards who cannot face me politically, are attempting to create trouble for Bandi Sanjay and the BJP. I am not someone who hides in a farmhouse. I didn’t enter politics by leveraging my father’s or grandfather’s name,” he stated.

The Union minister emphasized his rise from being a grassroots BJP worker, bearing the saffron flag.

“I started as an ordinary worker carrying the lotus flag on my shoulders. As an RSS member, ABVP worker, BJYM activist, and disciple of Narendra Modi, I will always serve as a BJP soldier. I will never allow the party’s honor to be diminished,” he told party supporters amid their enthusiastic cheers.

BRS women activists intensified their demonstrations on Sunday at the Pet Basheerabad police station, demanding the immediate arrest of Bhagirath Sai while chanting slogans against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Bandi Sanjay.

“The fact that PM Modi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared the stage on Sunday with Bandi Sanjay underscores who is protecting him. The gloves are off, indeed. And the BJP’s Beti Bachao campaign is officially coming to an end,” a BRS woman leader was quoted as saying by PTI.

On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed the state DGP to promptly commence an investigation into the case. He also questioned the DGP on why the complaint had not been processed since May 8, ANI reported.

BRS party working president K.T. Rama Rao has called for Bandi Sanjay’s resignation on moral grounds and demanded a thorough investigation.
