Mamata Banerjee shows up in attorney attire at Calcutta High Court for violence case.
Former Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee made her way to the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, donning lawyer’s robes to appear before Chief Justice HC Sujoy Pal regarding a post-poll violence PIL case.

Her presence sparked both political and legal speculation, as the case is set to be discussed by a Division Bench led by Chief Justice HC Sujoy Pal.

The petition was submitted by Shirshanya Bandopadhyay, the son of Trinamool Congress figure and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee. The petition claims that there were incidents of post-poll violence across various regions, including attacks on party offices and the displacement of workers.

Mamata Banerjee is expected to articulate the party’s position before the bench. Senior advocate Kalyan Bandopadhyay was also seen in the courtroom. The hearing is anticipated to commence shortly, with arguments from both parties to follow.

Political analysts are also keenly observing if Trinamool Congress chief will take legal action regarding the Bhabanipur Assembly election results.

Debate heightened following parallels drawn to the 2021 Assembly elections, when Banerjee sought court intervention after losing to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram.
