“Since this was his team’s first violation of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which addresses over-rate offences, Cummins faced a fine of ₹12 lakh,” the IPL stated in an announcement.
This marks Cummins’ initial offence this season, and any further occurrences will result in a ₹24 lakh deduction from his earnings.
Failing to complete the required number of overs within the designated time of 90 overs constitutes a breach of Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
GT dominate SRH by 82 runs
On the field, GT decisively outperformed SRH by 82 runs, securing the top spot in the Indian Premier League points standings with an impressive all-around performance on Tuesday.
With half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (61) and Washington Sundar (50), the Titans managed to score 168 for seven despite a shaky batting display. Kagiso Rabada (3/28) dismantled SRH’s top-order, and Jason Holder (3/20) followed up with a sharp bowling performance, leading to GT’s fifth consecutive victory.
In pursuit of 169, SRH crumbled to 60 for seven due to Rabada’s exploits with the new ball and Holder’s breakthroughs after the powerplay, eventually collapsing for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.
If the two-paced pitch made scoring challenging early in the match, Rabada showcased his skill against the struggling SRH batters in the second innings, taking three wickets in his four overs, all acquired in the opening phase.
