“The specific terms and conditions will be provided later,” the government order confirmed Vettrivel’s new role as OSD to the Chief Minister.
Vettrivel, widely recognized as Radhan Pandit, gained notable attention during the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by predicting a ‘tsunami victory’ for Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
The astrologer also publicly discussed the relevance of the party’s name, asserting that it aligned with numerological and astrological calculations related to Vijay’s birth details. Following the election results, his predictions attracted significant interest from TVK supporters and leaders.
In addition to astrology, Vettrivel has been active in the party’s political maneuvers and has frequently appeared in television debates as a
TVK spokesperson.
During various discussions, he linked astrology with political developments and often contrasted Vijay’s political trajectory with leaders like M K Stalin and Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He consistently claimed that Vijay enjoyed strong ‘planetary support’ for leadership.
Vettrivel was also reported to have advised Vijay on timing-related matters concerning political events.
Initially, Vijay planned to hold his swearing-in ceremony on May 10 at 3:45 pm, but the timing was later adjusted to 10 am following Vettrivel’s recommendation of a more auspicious ‘muhurat,’ according to Business Today.
Shortly after the election results, Vettrivel visited Vijay at his residence in Chennai to congratulate him on the party’s achievements. He has also had prior associations with former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and was known to advise her on critical decisions.
TVK emerged as the single-largest party in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, securing 108 seats. Support from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) helped the alliance surpass the majority threshold.
Vijay subsequently submitted letters of support to the Governor and was invited to form the government. He has been requested to seek a vote of confidence in the Assembly on or before May 13.
