FORT WALTON BEACH — The Emerald Coast Science Center will host its first Reduce, Reuse, Refashion Show on Sept. 27, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., showcasing wearable art made entirely from recycled and repurposed materials.
The show, open to designers ages 16 and older, aims to blend creativity with sustainability by challenging participants to create fashion using items such as plastic, paper and textiles that would otherwise be discarded.
“We’re excited to merge creativity with sustainability,” Kate Fox, development coordinator at the Science Center, said in a statement. “This event not only highlights the importance of environmental responsibility but also celebrates the ingenuity of our community.”
The center is seeking up to 20 designers to participate. Entrants must be at least 16 years old, provide their own runway model and submit designs by Aug. 31, along with a $10 entry fee.
Designs will be judged on creativity, functionality and effective use of recycled materials. The top three entries will receive prizes.
As a nonprofit organization, the Emerald Coast Science Center is asking for the community’s support to sponsor the event.
More information about sponsorship and the event itself can be found at www.ecscience.org/reduce-reuse-refashion.
