The release of these long-anticipated documents and images of “unidentified anomalous phenomena” will be succeeded by additional disclosers as further materials are declassified, according to a statement from the US Defense Department.
The approximately 170 documents include a 1947 report on “flying discs,” as well as a photograph of “unidentified phenomena” captured from the lunar surface during the Apollo 12 mission in 1969, alongside a transcript of the Apollo 17 crew discussing unidentified objects observed from the moon in 1972.
’BRIGHT PARTICLES’ DURING APOLLO 17
Apollo 17 mission pilot Ronald Evans remarked on the transcript about “a few very bright particles or fragments or something that go drifting by as we maneuver.”
“Roger. Understand,” mission control responded.
”These documents, obscured by classifications for so long, have justifiably sparked speculation – and it’s time for the American public to see them,” Hegseth stated.
The release of these records is expected to ignite renewed discussions regarding government secrecy and the potential existence of extraterrestrial life.
”Previous Administrations have not been transparent on this issue; with these new Documents and Videos, the people can determine for themselves, ‘WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?’” Trump commented. ”Have fun and enjoy!”
The initiative was positively received by US Representatives Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna, both advocates for declassifying UFO materials. Luna noted that another batch of documents was anticipated in approximately 30 days.
”The files demonstrate that UAP are not merely a topic of speculation or public intrigue,” stated Harvard University astrophysicist Avi Loeb in an email to Reuters. ”The government has amassed records.”
The photos from Apollo 12 and 17 were intriguing but could potentially result from asteroid impacts on the lunar surface, Loeb explained. He further indicated that more fascinating material was likely forthcoming but would require additional time for declassification.
Some critics have labeled the UFO disclosures as a diversion from Trump’s political challenges, including the contentious U.S. military actions against Iran and mounting pressure to release further documents linked to accused sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“I really don’t care about the UFO files. I just don’t. I’m so tired of the ‘look at the shiny object’ propaganda,” former Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene remarked on X.
