Senior BJP figure Suvendu Adhikari is still regarded as the primary candidate for the chief minister position after the party’s significant success in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
Agnimitra Paul and Roopa Ganguly are also among the names being considered within party discussions, according to News18.
The BJP won 207 seats in the Assembly elections, whereas the ruling All India Trinamool Congress saw its number drop to 80 seats after holding power for 15 years.
