In an announcement, X’s product head Nikita Bier disclosed that iOS Premium subscribers will receive early access to a tool allowing them to pin over 75 specific topics to their home tab. Grok will utilize these topics to curate posts on the user’s timeline.
“It’s driven by Grok’s comprehension of individual posts through personalized algorithms—resulting in a timeline uniquely tailored for you. It functions even better with topics you actively engage with,” Bier explained.
“This was a major project spanning several months, and we’re thrilled for you to try it out,” he continued. The feature will soon be available for Android users as well.
In addition, X is phasing out its Communities feature, which enabled users to participate in topic-focused groups. The company had initially set a two-week timeframe for users to transition, but that deadline has now been extended.
“We’ve heard your feedback. To provide adequate time for migration: You have until May 30th to switch to XChat,” Bier stated. He also noted that group chat limits will be enlarged to accommodate larger communities.
X is now urging users to move to group chats via its messaging service, XChat, where public join links can be shared and pinned to facilitate community gathering. This shift comes as the platform notes “declining usage” of Communities.
Simultaneously, the company is launching a new “Snooze” feature, allowing users to temporarily mute topics on their “For You” feed.
These updates appear as Musk faces scrutiny in France regarding Grok’s operations. According to The Independent, prosecutors in Paris have summoned Musk as part of an ongoing investigation by the cybercrime division that is probing allegations related to algorithm misuse and illegal data extraction.
The investigation commenced in January 2025 after complaints raised concerns about bias in the system. It has since expanded, with investigators pursuing additional serious issues after new evidence came to light, including worries surrounding explicit AI-generated content and unauthorized use of images.
