NPCI Bharat BillPay Incorporates Postal Life Insurance as a New Bill Payment Option
NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL) has officially added Postal Life Insurance (PLI) as a biller in the insurance segment on the Bharat Connect platform, enhancing digital payment options for policyholders.

PLI, managed by India Post under the Department of Posts, caters to over 1.25 crore active policies and handles approximately 2.5 lakh transactions daily.

With this integration, policyholders of both PLI and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) can conveniently pay renewal premiums via Bharat Connect-enabled online platforms as well as through offline agent networks.
The State Bank of India has served as the Biller Operating Unit (BOU) to support this onboarding process. This initiative enables customers to utilize recurring premium payment services through a variety of digital and assisted channels nationwide.

After the inclusion of PLI, the total number of insurance billers on Bharat Connect has increased to 65, showcasing steady growth in this sector. The platform now accommodates over 22,600 billers across 29 categories and is accessible via more than 700 applications and over 5 lakh offline agents.

NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India, operating the Bharat Connect system, which facilitates interoperable bill payments across various categories for both individuals and businesses.

This development is part of a broader initiative to enhance digital payment infrastructure for recurring financial services, including insurance premiums, in urban and rural markets alike.
