Iran warns that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed if the US blockade persists.
Iran has reversed its decision to open the Strait of Hormuz due to the ongoing US blockade.

Iran’s Speaker of Parliament MB Ghalibaf announced on X that the Strait is now closed.

He criticized US President Donald Trump for making “seven claims in one hour, all of which were false.”
Ghalibaf stated that the US did not succeed in the war “with these lies” and will not achieve anything in negotiations either. “As long as the blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz will not stay open,” he emphasized.

He asserted that passage through the Strait of Hormuz would proceed based on the “designated route” and would require “Iranian authorization.” He added, “The status of the Strait—whether it is open or closed—will be determined on the ground, not through social media.”

According to him, media warfare and the manipulation of public perception are critical aspects of conflict, and “the Iranian nation is untouched by these tactics.”

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the US and Iran are scheduled to hold another round of peace talks on Monday in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Earlier, President Trump expressed hope for a permanent ceasefire with Iran soon. However, during his remarks at the Turning Point USA event in Arizona on Friday, he noted that an agreement with Iran would not be effective until it is fully finalized.

He also mentioned that the US will acquire Iran’s uranium stockpile by any means necessary and warned it could materialize in a
“less friendly manner” if negotiations do not yield results, according to CNN.

During a press briefing on Air Force One, Trump mentioned having some “pretty good news” regarding Iran but did not provide further details.

“We received some pretty good news 20 minutes ago, but it appears things are progressing well in the Middle East with Iran,” he stated, as reported by Reuters.

When inquired about the good news, Trump replied, “You’ll hear about it. I believe it’s something that should occur. It’s a logical outcome. I think it will happen. We’ll see how it unfolds, but I am optimistic.”
