Muzarabani did not attract interest during the IPL and PSL auctions.
Nevertheless, he chose to sign with KKR as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was released from the squad per directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Since last year, the IPL and PSL have been held concurrently, making it unfeasible for international players to take part in both leagues.
“Despite having a definite offer and accepting key terms unambiguously, the player opted to ignore these commitments in favor of a conflicting arrangement,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated on Tuesday.
“The attempt to depart from such commitments without just cause constitutes a breach of contractual obligations and the principles of good faith that are foundational to global professional sports.”
South African bowler Corbin Bosch, who last year opted out of Peshawar Zalmi to join Mumbai Indians in the IPL, received a one-year ban from the PSL.
Muzarabani had an impressive T20 World Cup, playing a crucial role in his team’s advancement to the Super 8 stage. However, he has struggled to achieve similar success with KKR. The tall pacer participated in a few matches, taking four wickets but had a high economy rate of 10.71. He has been replaced by Rovman Powell in the lineup as KKR aims to strengthen their middle order.
