Ex-Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal appointed as the youngest head of BCB.

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has been appointed as the youngest head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as of Tuesday, following the dissolution of the BCB’s board of directors by the National Sports Council after investigating the elections held in October.

A committee identified irregularities in the BCB’s electoral process, according to the NSC’s sports director Mohammed Aminul Ahesan during a press briefing in Dhaka.

“We have notified the International Cricket Council (ICC) that this board of directors was improperly formed and is unable to fulfill its duties correctly,” Ahesan stated.
“We believe that the ICC will certainly uphold this decision.”

The previous board was chaired by Aminul Islam, who was responsible for Bangladesh’s decision to decline participation in this year’s Twenty20 World Cup in India, citing security concerns.

As a result, Bangladesh was replaced by Scotland in the tournament.

Tamim, who has played 391 matches for Bangladesh across all formats, will head an 11-member ad-hoc committee tasked with managing the BCB.

Bangladesh is scheduled to host New Zealand for a series that includes three one-day internationals, three T20s, and two tests commencing on April 17.
