Parliament Approves Jan Vishwas Bill 2026; PM Modi Describes It as a Step Forward for Business Ease

PM Modi urges states to remain vigilant on supply and pricing issues during West Asia crisis
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the passage of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, by Parliament as a significant advancement for both ease of living and ease of doing business in India.

He expressed “immense delight” over Parliament’s approval of the Bill.

“This Bill enhances a trust-based system that empowers our citizens and puts an end to outdated rules and regulations,” the prime minister stated on X.
He highlighted that the Bill also facilitates quicker resolution of cases and alleviates the burden of litigation through decriminalisation.

“Furthermore, it’s important to note the collaborative approach used in drafting this Bill,” he remarked, acknowledging everyone who contributed their insights and supported it in the House.

On Thursday, Parliament approved the Bill, which amends 784 provisions across 79 central laws, with the aim of decriminalising and rationalising minor offences to improve the business landscape and reduce public harassment.
