Vodafone Idea Reports No Government Communication Regarding ₹84,000 Crore AGR Relief
Vodafone Idea on Tuesday stated that it has not received any notification from the government concerning the reported relief on its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues amounting to approximately ₹84,000 crore.

In a regulatory filing, the company mentioned, “We have not received any communication from the Government regarding the matter reported above. Should there be any developments requiring disclosure, we will take the necessary actions.”

Shares of Vodafone Idea

surged significantly in early trading after reports indicated that the government might extend the repayment period for AGR dues to as long as 20 years and change the interest calculation from compound to simple interest. Speculations also suggest that the telco might be permitted to make token annual payments of ₹1,000–1,500 crore until a final resolution is achieved.
As of March 2025, Vodafone Idea’s AGR dues were around ₹83,400 crore, with about ₹18,000 crore due by the end of FY26. The company had cash reserves of approximately ₹9,930 crore as of March, raising concerns about its ability to repay without additional support.

Earlier this year, the government transformed ₹36,950 crore of the company’s dues into equity, becoming the largest shareholder with a nearly 49% stake.

Vodafone Idea shares increased over 7% intraday following the news. The shares closed the session at 6.86 on the National Stock Exchange, up 4.7%.
