Visa-free entry for Indian passport holders to the Philippines starts on this date.
The Philippines has recently revealed that Indian nationals will be granted visa-free entry for tourism purposes. On June 7, the country announced that Indian passport holders can enter without a visa starting June 8. This initiative aims to increase the number of visitors from India.

With the new policy, Indian passport holders can visit the Philippines without a visa for a duration of up to 14 days. Those with valid visas or permanent residency in countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, or any Schengen nation can extend their stay to 30 days.

The initiative follows a 12% rise in Indian tourist arrivals in 2024, with approximately 80,000 Indians visiting the archipelago, as reported by the Department of Tourism. Despite this growth, Indian visitors account for only a small portion of the total five million tourists who visited the Philippines last year.
“This visa-free arrangement is a significant step towards enhancing tourism and cultural relations between the Philippines and India,” stated a spokesperson for the Department of Tourism. “We are optimistic that it will motivate more Indian travelers to discover our islands and vibrant cities.”

To be eligible for visa-free entry, Indian nationals must present a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry, confirmed hotel reservations, proof of sufficient funds for their stay, and a return or onward travel ticket.

For those intending to stay longer or travel for purposes beyond tourism, the Philippines has recently launched an e-visa system. This online service simplifies the visa application process for extended visits, facilitating quicker access to essential documentation for Indian travellers.

Additionally, a digital nomad visa is on the horizon. Announced by President Bongbong Marcos, this forthcoming visa category will permit remote workers employed by companies based outside the Philippines to reside and work in the country for extended durations. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to attract international professionals and long-term visitors.
