Kohli’s recent ODI performances have been remarkable, including an unbeaten 74 against Australia and scores of 135, 102, and 65 not out against the visiting South Africans.
Kohli first achieved the top ranking in October 2013, marking his 11th time holding this position. To date, he has spent a total of 825 days at the top, ranking 10th for any player and first among Indian batters.
India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill remains in fifth place, with Shreyas Iyer also making an appearance in the top-10.
New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has improved his ranking after a fiery 84 off 71 in the first ODI, sitting just one rating point below Kohli, who has 785.
Mitchell’s teammate, Devon Conway, climbed three places to reach the 29th position as he continues to score effectively at the top order.
Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has advanced five spots to land in 15th place in the ODI bowler rankings, alongside Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, after an outstanding performance of 4 for 41 runs, has surged up 27 places to join 69th position, sharing the rank with Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh.
