KL Rahul scored a determined 112 to guide India to a challenging total of 284 for seven in the second ODI against New Zealand on a slow pitch, here Wednesday.

After being invited to bat, India started confidently with Rohit Sharma (24) and captain Shubhman Gill (56) putting on 70 runs for the first wicket. However, disciplined bowling from the Kiwi spinners shifted the momentum during the middle overs.

Virat Kohli (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (27) made promising contributions but failed to convert their starts into substantial scores. Nitish Kumar Reddy added 20 runs off 21 balls.
India now leads the three-match series 1-0.
