US stock futures have shown little reaction to Trump’s recent tariff warning, with Dow futures indicating a decline of approximately 70 points.
White House representatives opted not to address CNBC’s inquiries regarding this matter.
The new tariff declaration also arrives ahead of the Supreme Court’s decision on whether Trump’s tariffs adhere to legal standards. The Supreme Court has planned its next “opinion day” for Wednesday.
In Iran, anti-government protests are currently taking place, and Trump has voiced his support, stating over the weekend that the US is prepared to assist.
“We’re considering it quite seriously. The military is evaluating the situation, and we’re exploring some robust options,” Trump informed reporters. “I’m receiving updates hourly, and we’ll make a determination soon.”
China, a primary buyer of Iranian crude, is among Iran’s business partners, and independent refiners have been ramping up their oil purchases since December.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has established communication lines with Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, according to a statement from the ministry on Monday.
