In a message on X, Ghalibaf mentioned that Iran approached the talks with “the necessary good faith and will,” but warned that past experiences from two previous conflicts have influenced Tehran’s skepticism towards the opposing party.
He pointed out that the Iranian delegation proposed progressive initiatives during the discussions, but these did not result in trust-enhancing outcomes.
He added that the United States has come to understand Iran’s “logic and principles,” and must determine if it is willing and capable of earning Tehran’s trust moving forward.
Emphasizing Iran’s wider strategy, Ghalibaf characterized diplomacy as “another form of authority” alongside military action, asserting that Tehran will persist in its efforts “for a moment” to reinforce what he referred to as the achievements of the “forty days of Iran’s national defense.”

He also conveyed his appreciation to Pakistan for its role in facilitating the talks, referring to it as a “friendly and brotherly nation,” and sent his best wishes to its populace.
Ghalibaf further expressed his gratitude to the Iranian public, describing the nation as “a body with 90 million souls,” and acknowledged the widespread support, stating that citizens had rallied in the streets following the Supreme Leader’s guidance to back the delegation throughout the negotiations.
He praised his colleagues for their contributions during the “intense 21-hour negotiations,” expressing appreciation for their hard work.
Earlier today, after nearly 21 hours of discussions, the United States and Iran were unable to reach a consensus on peace terms in Islamabad.
US Vice President JD Vance made a statement from Islamabad regarding the situation following the meetings. In his remarks, Vance noted, “The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement.”
Additionally, he remarked that the Iranians opted not to accept their terms. “We negotiated for several hours, and we have not yet reached an agreement that satisfies both parties. We need to see a clear commitment that they will not pursue nuclear weapons and tools that would facilitate that goal. The President has been very clear about this,” Vance added.
