Union Sports Minister inaugurates ₹75-crore high-performance center at SAI Bengaluru.
On Tuesday, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya virtually inaugurated the laying of the foundation stone for a ₹75-crore High Performance Centre (HPC) at the Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subhas Southern Centre (NSSC) in Bengaluru.

This cutting-edge facility will be developed with ₹60 crore in CSR funding from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), aimed at enhancing India’s support for elite athletes and the high-performance ecosystem.

Once operational, the HPC will feature integrated world-class facilities for sports medicine, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation and recovery, biomechanics, physiology, psychology, nutrition, performance analysis, and hydrotherapy, promoting scientific and data-driven training all under one roof.
During the ceremony, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that the centre symbolizes India’s shift from participation to success, aligning with the government’s vision for high performance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “reform, perform and transform” initiative. He noted that the HPC will enable Indian athletes to train and recover using advanced sports science techniques to compete at the highest international levels.

The Minister also praised HAL’s CSR contribution, highlighting it as a prime example of public sector involvement in nation-building through sports.

The HPC aims to further solidify the legacy of SAI NSSC Bengaluru as a pivotal national sports hub, home to National Centres of Excellence and elite training programmes, and is anticipated to play a vital role in India’s preparations for major international events, including the 2036 Olympics.

The event included remarks from SAI Secretary Vishnu Kant Tiwari and HAL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. D.K. Sunil, concluding with a vote of thanks from SAI Director General and Secretary (Sports) Hari Ranjan Rao.
