Speaking at an important meeting with party shakha pramukhs (branch leaders) at Shiv Sena Bhavan, Uddhav Thackeray highlighted the necessity of engaging directly with voters and focusing on local achievements to reclaim lost political ground.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under Shiv Sena’s governance, Thackeray reminded party members of the extensive public welfare initiatives carried out through the civic institution.
“Through the BMC, we have delivered water, health services, education, sanitation, and transportation options to the people of Mumbai. We also completed critical coastal projects,” he stated. “Despite these accomplishments, we did not communicate well with voters during the last Assembly elections. Our adversaries leveraged this disconnect. It is imperative to rectify this mistake.”

He pointed to the miscalculations made in the 2019 Assembly elections, where, despite notable contributions via the BMC, Shiv Sena encountered setbacks due to inadequate voter communication and internal conflicts. Thackeray asserted the necessity of rebuilding voter trust and preventing opposition narratives from taking precedence.
He instructed local unit heads to connect with voters, understand their concerns, and showcase the accomplishments of the party in previous terms. “Our inaction has cost us significantly,” he said, urging leaders to actively spread the party’s message to every home.
The meeting, hosted at the renowned Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar, witnessed attendance from all significant shakha pramukhs in Mumbai. Thackeray reviewed preparations for the forthcoming BMC elections and requested detailed updates on voter outreach initiatives. He also addressed the party’s current challenges and strategies to rejuvenate electoral prospects in both municipal and state elections.
In a subtle critique of the ruling Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and the present state administration, Thackeray remarked that today’s leaders have presented voters with “a dream, not reality,” emphasizing the need for his party to unveil those empty promises. He commended the party’s women’s wing, active shakhas, and grassroots volunteers who have continued their efforts despite political hurdles.

“The upcoming elections are not solely about winning seats but are fundamental to principles, identity, and the development of Mumbai,” he asserted. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader underscored the importance of unity and accountability within the party. “Every member’s contribution is crucial now. Every shakha is a battlefield,” he declared, inspiring the cadre to gear up for the elections.
As civic elections loom later this year, Thackeray’s speech signifies a clear strategic pivot — shifting from internal restructuring to widespread outreach — as the party aims to regain its foothold in Maharashtra politics.
