Israel Iran War LIVE Updates: Israel executed airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear program and military sites early Friday, June 13. These strikes resulted in the deaths of Hossein Salami, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, and Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff. In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader issued a warning of “severe punishment.” Following this, Iran launched approximately 100 drones targeting Israel.

Shortly thereafter, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US was not involved in the attacks on Iran. While the US distanced itself from the actions, President Donald Trump informed Fox News that he had prior knowledge of Israel’s planned strikes on Iran, according to the network.

Nevertheless, Iran remains skeptical. Hours after the strikes, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for Iran’s Armed Forces, communicated to state media that the military actions were executed with US backing and that “Israel will pay a heavy price.”

This development is likely to complicate ongoing negotiations for a nuclear deal between the US and Iran.
