Trophy for England vs. India Test Series Honors James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar
England and India are set to compete for a new test series trophy named in honor of cricket legends James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar, as announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday.

The Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy will be awarded for all future test series between these two teams, taking the place of the Pataudi Trophy in England and the Anthony De Mello Trophy in India. The forthcoming five-test series kicks off at Headingley on Friday.

The newly crafted trophy showcases the engraved signatures and action shots of both players, who hold the most caps in test cricket.
Tendulkar participated in 200 matches and accumulated 15,921 runs, the highest in test cricket history. Anderson, who declared his retirement earlier this year, claimed 704 wickets in 188 tests, the most for any fast bowler. He ranks third overall, surpassed only by spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne.
“For me, test cricket embodies life… It represents the pinnacle of the game, imparting lessons of endurance, discipline, and adaptability in the face of adversity,” Tendulkar remarked.

“India and England have significantly contributed to the evolution of Test cricket, making it an inspiring journey for future generations. Now, as I share this honor with my on-field rival and a true gentleman, James, I hope the world embraces the core essence of Test cricket even more, allowing it to explore uncharted territories.”

Anderson expressed: “The rivalry between our nations has always been unique, steeped in history, intensity, and unforgettable moments.”

“To be honored in this way is genuinely humbling. I’m eager to witness the next chapter unfold in England this summer.”

The Pataudi Trophy, established in 2007, was named to honor Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the only cricketer to represent both India and England, as well as his son Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, a former captain of India.

The ECB stated that the Pataudi family will continue to be recognized, with a new Pataudi Medal to be awarded to the winning captain after each series.
