Traffic to Jammu stopped near Navyug Tunnel in J&K, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

Thousands of travelers, including tourists, found themselves stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday as authorities halted Jammu-bound traffic near the Navyug tunnel in Kulgam district.

While traffic authorities did not provide a reason for the extended stoppage, it is common for traffic to be halted in the mornings on this route to allow the passage of Amarnath yatra convoys.

Due to the stoppage, hundreds of vehicles were backed up along the highway from the Navyug tunnel to Mir Bazar in Kulgam district.
”We are working to resolve the situation promptly and restore traffic on the highway,” traffic authorities stated.

Amit Shah pledges J&K support amid heavy rainfall

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday to assess the impact of recent heavy rains in the Union Territory. During the discussion, Shah promised the chief minister full support from the Centre to tackle the rain-related challenges, officials reported.

Record Amarnath group departs

Meanwhile, a historic single-day group of 9,837 pilgrims set off for the Amarnath Yatra from Anantnag under stringent security measures. The pilgrims traveled in a convoy of 361 vehicles, marking the largest single-day congregation of devotees since this year’s pilgrimage commenced.
