While traffic authorities did not provide a reason for the extended stoppage, it is common for traffic to be halted in the mornings on this route to allow the passage of Amarnath yatra convoys.
Due to the stoppage, hundreds of vehicles were backed up along the highway from the Navyug tunnel to Mir Bazar in Kulgam district.
”We are working to resolve the situation promptly and restore traffic on the highway,” traffic authorities stated.

Meanwhile, a historic single-day group of 9,837 pilgrims set off for the Amarnath Yatra from Anantnag under stringent security measures. The pilgrims traveled in a convoy of 361 vehicles, marking the largest single-day congregation of devotees since this year’s pilgrimage commenced.
