‘This will keep them awake at night’: PM Narendra Modi's criticism of the INDIA bloc regarding Shashi Tharoor and Kerala CM's attendance
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the Opposition INDIA bloc, remarking that the attendance of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor at the event would likely cause distress for many people.

PM Modi made these comments following the inauguration of the Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala. “I want to tell the Chief Minister (Pinarayi Vijayan), you are a strong pillar of the INDIA bloc, and Shashi Tharoor is also present. Today’s event will trouble the sleep of many,” he stated.

The translator appeared to have difficulty accurately conveying his words. In response, PM Modi remarked, “Message chala gaya jahan jana tha (The message has reached where it was intended to).”
On Thursday, Tharoor greeted the Prime Minister during his visit to his parliamentary constituency, Thiruvananthapuram. “Despite the delays at the dysfunctional Delhi airport, I managed to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on time to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he posted on X.

“Looking forward to the official commissioning of Vizhinjam Port, a project I have proudly contributed to from the start,” Tharoor continued.

The PM inaugurated the Vizhinjam Sea Port in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, noting its potential to boost trade and commerce, ultimately benefiting the Kerala economy.

In his remarks to the public, Modi highlighted that this development exemplifies ‘new age growth’ due to its location at the junction of a deep sea.

“On one side, there lies a vast sea full of opportunities, and on the other, the beauty of nature; in between stands the ‘Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport’, a testament to new-age development,” he added.

The Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport, which costs 8,900 crore, was developed through a public-private partnership with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ). The inauguration featured the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, and Union Ministers Suresh Gopi and George Kurien, among others.
