Tehran and Washington Allegedly Exchange Gunfire Amid US Ship Seizure

Iran-US-Israel War LIVE News Updates: The US has captured the Iranian cargo ship Touska near the Gulf of Oman, with Trump citing a violation of the blockade, while Iran condemns the act as armed piracy and promises a response. Simultaneously, the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire remains intact.

Iran-US-Israel War News LIVE Updates: Tensions heightened between Iran and the United States after the US seized an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel in the Gulf region, leading Tehran to denounce the action as “armed piracy” and caution against retaliation.

US President Donald Trump stated that American forces had taken control of an Iranian-flagged vessel called ‘Touska’ after it reportedly tried to violate a US naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that the ship disregarded warnings from the US Navy destroyer USS Spruance.

The US military engaged the vessel as it approached Iran’s Bandar Abbas port while a blockade was being imposed on Iranian maritime traffic, according to Reuters.

Iran fiercely condemned the operation, labeling it “armed piracy.” A spokesperson from Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbiya central command emphasized that the nation’s armed forces would respond to the incident.

Mohammadreza Aref, Iran’s First Vice President, warned that ongoing restrictions on Iranian oil exports could have significant repercussions for global energy markets. “One cannot limit Iran’s oil exports while anticipating unrestricted security for others. The decision is straightforward: either a free oil market for all, or the potential for increased costs for everyone,” Aref stated on social media, as reported by Reuters.

This recent occurrence has raised questions about ongoing diplomatic negotiations. Tehran might forego a second round of talks anticipated before the current ceasefire concludes, citing the continuing blockade and the demands from Washington, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon continues to hold, allowing thousands of residents to return and assess the damage to homes in southern Lebanon.
