Pune Election Results 2026: BJP on Top in 38 Seats; NCP in the Lead for 5
The vote counting for the 2026 Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) election, along with 28 other municipal corporations across Maharashtra, is currently in progress.

According to the latest trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in the Pune Municipal Council election results.

Current data indicates that the BJP is ahead in 90 seats, putting it significantly ahead of other parties as the counting continues. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is in second place, leading in 20 seats, while the Indian National Congress (INC) is ahead in 8 seats.
Trends in Pune Municipal Corporation Election Results 2026
Voting took place on Thursday, January 15, for all 29 municipal corporations, including Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Details About PMC Elections 2026

The PMC election had a total of 1,165 candidates vying for 165 seats spread across 41 wards of the city’s civic body. The Pune Municipal Corporation recorded a final voter turnout of 52.42%.

Pune is under close observation due to the alliance formed by two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his uncle, Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Pawar, for the municipal elections.

Exit polls for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections suggest a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP is projected to win around 70 of the 165 seats, while Ajit Pawar’s NCP could secure 55. Sharad Pawar’s NCP is expected to gain 10 seats, and the Shiv Sena (Shinde), which participated independently, might win 12 seats.

What Occurred In 2017?

The previous Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) election was held on February 21, 2017, with 55.45% of eligible voters participating, selecting from 1,090 candidates.

The BJP achieved a decisive victory, winning 97 of the 162 seats. The NCP followed as the runner-up with 39 seats, while Shiv Sena secured 10, Congress gained nine, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) obtained two, and AIMIM received one, with the remaining four seats awarded to Independents and others.

After the election, BJP’s Mukta Tilak was appointed as mayor, and Navnath Kamble took on the role of deputy mayor.
