PM Modi to Speak at Maha Mahila Sammelan in Bhopal on May 31: Everything You Need to Know
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a women’s conference, the Mahila Maha Sammelan, on May 31, in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. More than one lakh women are anticipated to attend the conference, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the Madhya Pradesh government.

This event marks the commencement of the 300th birth anniversary year of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. It is framed as a demonstration of strength and a commitment to women’s empowerment.

According to a report from News18, PM Modi

is likely to utilize this platform to spotlight the women’s welfare initiatives led by the BJP, especially in Madhya Pradesh. He may also seek to reassure women voters following a series of controversial remarks made by party leaders in recent weeks.
The Maha Mahila Sammelan follows closely on the heels of a video that went viral, featuring Manohalal Dhakad, a BJP leader, in a compromising position on a highway. He was arrested and subsequently released on bail within a day.

Another BJP figure, Amar Kishor Kashyap, received a notice from party leadership after security footage revealed him engaging in ‘inappropriate’ behavior with a woman.

Babban Singh Raghuvanshi, another party leader, was expelled after a video surfaced showing him in the company of a dancer at a public event.

In a separate case from Karnataka, a police report has been filed against BJP MLA Munirathna, following accusations from a 40-year-old woman of gang rape and physical assault.

As reported by News18, the BJP is now leaning on PM Modi’s popularity and the historic significance of Ahilyabai Holkar—the 18th-century female ruler—to regain lost ground. During the event, PM Modi will also be unveiling a commemorative postage stamp and coin honoring her legacy.

The program is poised to symbolize women’s emancipation and independence, as stated by MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to PTI.

There will be stalls highlighting innovations from women-led self-help groups, startups, and government initiatives that support female entrepreneurship and employment.

The logistics will be managed by women, overseeing everything from stage setup and security to media and crowd coordination, which officials describe as a ‘live example of empowerment,’ according to the state government.

District BJP units have been instructed to ensure that each mandal brings at least 20 women to the conference. The party’s women’s wing, along with over 1,000 female volunteers, are actively preparing, with planning meetings ongoing.

All eyes are on Modi’s upcoming speech, expected to deliver a clear political message to both voters and party members.
