NCP’s Vikram Kakade claims ₹10 crore given to Jay Pawar was a plot advance, not a loan; reveals assets exceeding ₹150 crore.

Baramati Bypoll: Sunetra Pawar Anticipated to Gain from Wave of Sympathy
Vikram Kakade of the Nationalist Congress Party, who was elected unopposed to the legislative council representing Pune, stated on Thursday that the ₹10 crore reported in his affidavit as given to Jay Pawar, son of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra and the late Ajit Pawar, is an “advance for a plot” rather than a loan. Engaged in the construction sector, Kakade has also declared family assets exceeding ₹150 crore.

The NCP, a crucial partner in the BJP-led Mahayuti government, is led by Sunetra Pawar, who ascended to the cabinet and took over the party leadership following the tragic plane crash of her husband, Ajit Pawar, in January.

The affidavit lists a total of ₹10 crore under the section “Loans and Advances to Other Persons” made to Jay Ajit Pawar. Other noted advances include ₹4.94 crore to Rustom Bharucha, ₹2.17 crore to Purvez Keki Grant, and ₹7.55 crore to Shreesha Enterprises.
Kakade has reported movable assets valued at ₹78.95 crore, including ₹7.5 lakh in cash and bank deposits amounting to ₹29.53 lakh.

The affidavit reveals that he has investments totaling ₹11.69 crore in bonds, shares, debentures, and mutual funds. Additionally, he holds investments worth ₹30.16 lakh in various insurance policies and financial instruments.

Just a week prior, the businessman-politician, accompanied by his father, joined the NCP in the presence of Sunetra Pawar and her sons, Jay and Parth.

The electoral affidavit, submitted with his nomination papers, indicates that Vikram Kakade, 33, son of former Rajya Sabha MP and entrepreneur Sanjay Kakade, has provided loans and advances amounting to ₹41.80 crore to individuals, companies, and firms.

Regarding the ₹10 crore mentioned in his affidavit, Kakade clarified that it is not a loan but an advance for purchasing a plot next to his bungalow in Yashwant Ghadge Nagar, Pune, from Jay.

“In the affidavit, it states ‘loans and advances given to’. In my case, the ₹10 crore provided to Jay Pawar is an advance related to a plot deal, not a loan,” he emphasized in the evening.

The NCP figure has disclosed ownership of a luxury vehicle fleet valued at ₹22.04 crore. This collection features high-end models including BMW 740i, BMW G310R, Lexus LM 350H, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu V-Cross, Mini Cooper S, Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, and a Lamborghini Huracan.

Kakade has also declared valuables such as jewellery and bullion valued at ₹2.25 crore, which includes investments in gold, silver, and watches.

The affidavit assesses his immovable assets at ₹74.07 crore, encompassing non-agricultural plots in Pune as well as residential properties in Pashan and Dubai. His personally acquired immovable properties have an estimated current market value of ₹74.07 crore.

It further states that Vikram Kakade’s spouse, Devika, possesses immovable assets valued at ₹9.19 crore.

The NCP candidate lists his highest educational qualification as a Higher Secondary Certificate (Class 12), which he obtained from a Pune college in February 2011 with a score of 70.83%.

Kakade was elected unopposed to the Maharashtra legislative council from Pune after five candidates, including NCP (SP) nominee Shrikant Patil, withdrew their nominations on Thursday, the final day for opting out, as confirmed by officials.

The Returning Officer, Gajanan Patil, presented the official certificate to Kakade regarding this matter.

The elections for 16 legislative council seats from local self-government bodies, along with a bypoll from the Nagpur self-government body, are scheduled for June 18, with vote counting taking place on June 22. Members of local self-government bodies form the electoral college for these elections.
