Lalit Modi claims Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will surpass the world’s ‘Messis.’

Fully Prepared for India: Sangakkara Praises Sooryavanshi's Impressive IPL Achievement
Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi has made a daring forecast about the teenage talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, asserting that the 15-year-old could rise to be one of the most prominent global figures in both sports and entertainment.

In a video shared by ANI, Modi lauded the Bihar batter for his record-setting IPL 2026 season and remarked that Sooryavanshi has an unusual mix of skill and courage.

Modi expressed that the young cricketer might eventually eclipse any Hollywood or Bollywood celebrity and could even outshine some of the most recognizable sports legends worldwide. He based this prediction on the teenager’s batting technique and poise at such a young age.
“What an extraordinary talent he is. He will be greater than anyone else on the planet. He will outshine any Hollywood or Bollywood star. He will be larger than the Messis of this world… I speak this with certainty when I observe his batting style and the fearlessness within that boy. To have such confidence at that age is nothing short of magical,” he stated.

The remarks came after an impressive IPL season in which Sooryavanshi was the tournament’s top run-scorer. The left-handed batsman secured 776 runs in 16 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 237.31, winning the Orange Cap and multiple individual accolades, even though the Rajasthan Royals did not make it to the final.

Modi has been among the most ardent supporters of the young player throughout the season. Previously, he referred to Sooryavanshi as the best acquisition in IPL history after Rajasthan Royals signed him for ₹1.10 crore, anticipating he would be the first player to score a T20 double century.

Sooryavanshi’s performances have garnered admiration from all corners of the cricketing community. Former England captain Alastair Cook praised his maturity and shot selection, while Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar urged for patience concerning his international prospects.

With growing expectations, Sooryavanshi is set to feature in India A’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, commencing June 10, 2026.
